The 2-speed Jetaway trans used behind the V-8 [not the L6] in the models also utilized a switch pitch torque converter. For a transmission built during these three years, you can identify the transmission as having the switch pitch parts by the electrical connector on the side of the trans case. A run-of-the-mill TH will have a single spade terminal protruding from the case to activate the kickdown solenoid valve. A switch pitch aka variable vane trans will have two terminals one for kickdown, one for vane angle. The TCS is wired to a pressure switch connected to the accumulator piston area, that allows full vacuum to the distributor only when the car is in third gear when the engine is cold. There probably is two wires coming from the thermostatic vacuum switch on the front of the manifold.

The 9 cap is available at your local GM dealer. Ask for AC Delco type RC32 part and a 10 cap is available at most autoparts store under a Stant part number , if they don’t have it, have them order it for you. The lower pressure rated caps are not carried by the store much but they are available. Wright One item that makes the radiator leak is using the wrong Pressure Cap.
Should be 9 pounds no greater than 10 pounds. Therefore I use a 7 pound cap for many years. Also your coach is running much Many fan clutches do not work properly Duane Temperature Sender This may be old news for most but doesn’t hurt to be told. This has caused a lot of engine damage when engine starts to overheat. Since the standard pressure cap raises antifreeze solution boiling point to degrees this will be more accurate readings.
I don’t know why they did this but it is a serious problem. I did this and it agrees exactly with my VIP digital readout. I also found my oil temp ran around degrees F with a normal engine load on my engine in a 76 Royale.
Carburetor Tuning the Scientific Way
Report Rowefast answered about a year ago Soooo, CLH8, you have a Chevy 2 bolt main engine with a Quadrajet 4bbl carburetor going on. The engine was made for gas mileage for passenger cars mainly, just a step up from the engine. But they had the Rochester 2bbl carb on them. Back in the day in a Mote Carlo I was getting mpg. When ever that Quadrajet was put on an engine gas mileage usually would drop.
Although it only had a production run of a year, the Buick GS rates as one of the best all-time muscle cars. Due to a temporary lifting of a General Motors induced ban on engine size at cubic inches, Buick was able to increase the size if the engine it was putting on its Buick GS to : $19,
Be sure to save the illustrations separately. The opinions expressed here are my experiences, and your experiences may vary. I don’t put myself forward as the world’s leading expert on Holleys, but I do have some helpful ideas. In some cases, I may not be able to answer specific questions, but I’ll do my best. I know very little about other brands of carburetors and have no information about them, only general operating principles.
I have NO experience with any type of supercharger or turbocharger, so please don’t ask me anything about your blower or turbo applications. The following few paragraphs is a set of rules I had to create because people were emailing me without enough information or asking really stupid questions that I had no way to answer.
Installing Holley’s Sniper EFI Is An Easy Task, And You Can Do It Yourself

It used to be thought that adding EFI to a classic, carbureted vehicle, required a degree in rocket science. But now, many manufacturers have jumped head-first into the realm of developing an EFI system that does not require a laptop — or the aforementioned degree. The Quadrajet has been on the Cheyenne since it left the factory. I am told there is a hotter, eight-injector system being developed by Holley, but a release date has not been announced.
Since I really have no background in EFI tuning — and even less knowledge of computer programming, if I was going to take this leap, I needed it to be simple. Sure, I can handle the mechanical aspect of an install: All it requires me to know, is how to hook up a couple of wires, plumb some fuel lines, and follow directions. Although some would say that following directions is somewhat new to me, I can do that.
As far as I know, the fuel miser on the Cheyenne has never been rebuilt. Most recently, the choke was sticking and not allowing the fast-idle to come down and fuel mileage was not as good as I would like.
In a squarebore, the bores are closer to the same size, though, in some squarebore carbs, like cfm Holleys, the primaries may be noticeably smaller than the secondaries. However, even then the bores share the same centerline. Many aftermarket intakes, such as mine, and the Edelbrock Performer and RPM, etc, are “dual pattern” intakes the area where the carb bolts on looks like a butterfly. Either a squarebore OR spreadbore can be physically be mounted on them with no adaptors. Carter Thermoquads, Rochester Quadrajets, and Holley ‘s, ‘s, and ‘s are spreadbores.
If the intakes are true squarebore intakes four individual holes or true spreadbore intakes again, four individual holes, though of different size , you cannot really bolt a squarebore carb on a spreadbore intake and vise versa.
After 30 years and 75, miles, my original L engine was still very dependable and running solid. However, after installing my TKO 5 speed kit, I decided I wanted some extra horses up front.
Installation of ZZ4 Crate Engine in C3 Corvette After 30 years and 75, miles, my original L engine was still very dependable and running solid. I also wanted to keep my numbers matching engine so that the car can be restored back to original at some point. After many hours of research, I decided to purchase a new ZZ4 crate engine from GM with specs as follows: GM part number – ZZ4 Crate Engine, Generation I long block, includes 4 bolt main caps, nodular cast iron crank with one piece rear seal, Passenger side dipstick and center bolt valve covers.
Preparing the ZZ4 engine for installation in a C3 is not a major deal but there are some things of which you need to be aware and I will discuss these in this documentary. One of the things that you will want to know is ‘what parts from my old engine will fit on the new one? The ZZ4 comes with a long water pump which of course is not correct for a C3.
The timing cover on the ZZ4 is a composite material and one of the bolts retaining it must have the head ground down to clear the back of your original pump. In my case, I did some research on water pumps and I found out that Edelbrock make an aluminum pump for the ZZ4 application in C3 Corvettes.
